Freak Storm Hits San Diego

A freak storm with wind gusts of over 60 mph tore through San Diego early Wednesday Morning. The thunderstorm hit San Diego about 4am bringing with it heavy rains, hail and damaging winds for 30 minutes. Weather forecaster Adam Conroy said what many thought may have been a weak tornado was in fact an “intense thunderstorm”.

“It was a big pulse of winds that were pushed out as the thunderstorm went through,” he explained.

“We estimate the winds were probably in excess of 60 mph.”
